Baha’is are frequently asked, “what is a Baha’i worship service like?” Since we don't have a professional clergy who traditionally lead worship services, our community devotions are unique. We have a variety of devotional gatherings organized by members of the community. Such gatherings can be held in a Baha’i Center, in another public space or in a private home, depending on the community. We invite everyone to participate in our devotional gatherings. The programs include readings from the extensive Baha’i Writings and often readings from other religions. Music enriches the gatherings, as we consider it “food for the soul.” Each community is encouraged to arrange their devotionals in a manner that meets their own needs. As there are Baha’i communities all around the world, you will find a lovely variety in the devotional gatherings wherever you go.

“While individual prayer connects every person with the Creator, sharing prayers in a group setting strengthens unity, encourages more profound conversation, and establishes a space for everyone—adults, youth, and even children—where spirituality becomes the main priority, where the soul is prioritized." --bahaiteachings.org

The purpose of our devotional gatherings remains consistent all over the world- to unite people, to appreciate our relationship as members of one family, as children of the same God. Whatever your spiritual path, we invite you to join us. In Salem, there are two different devotionals held at the IKE Box Cafe, Bay Room, 299 Cottage Street NE, Salem. One devotional is on the first Sunday of the month from 11:00 am - 12:00pm. The second one is weekly, on Tuesdays, from 5: 45 to 7:00 p.m. The Bay Room is on the first floor near the Chemeketa St. entrance, just follow the signs. We welcome everyone.
