How do we overcome division?

We are one people and Earth is our home.

As we observe our nation’s anniversary, many would agree that a number of issues have reached a critical point. One issue to be considered is racism which was already in place from the very beginning of our country. The result of ongoing racial prejudice is that too many people were excluded from the conversation of who we would become as a nation. Too many people are still marginalized. In this Great Experiment where people would govern themselves, to not give everyone a voice has been a significant miss step.

While we cannot delete the past for a “do over", we must acknowledge the missteps that have hurt so many of us to seek a new path forward. And we can seek what steps to take to listen and honor the contributions of everyone? Let’s consider some key aspects of the polarization dividing us. One is the concept of power, is it exclusive or why can't it be available to all? Justice, is it to be wielded only by a wealthy few or is it a fundamental human right? And spiritual wisdoms, can they refocus us with a universal mandate to care for each other as treasured family members? Could reworking these–power, justice and the spiritual elements of change, assist us to find true prosperity us all?
