We are an Interdependent Whole

I recently spent some days on the Washington Olympic Peninsula surrounded by trees, mountains and water. It took a few hours for my urban persona to fall away, to remember to look up at the trees instead of down at my tech. Gradually, I began to be spiritually present in this amazing space. The gift for me was remembering that we are all part of this rich biosphere, that we are an interconnected whole. “Every atom in a human body and every molecule in a blue whale was forged inside the hearts of dying stars billions of years ago. We are quite literally the universe experiencing itself.” –anonymous.

If all of creation is endued with spirit, can that shared spirit become the foundation for reshaping our relationships with each other, with our earth home? Regardless of our individual paths, can this shared spirit change how we see the world around us? Could we begin to see all humanity—all of life—as an interdependent whole to which we all have moral obligations?
